What can I say, I just can't resist a long, drawn out story that ends up being about nothing and leads the listener to wonder just why exactly she, or he, initially considered the story worthy of telling in the first place. Well, let's just say, I got tons of said dronings stored for the telling.
Which is why Wordful Wednesday seemed more my style.

Oh yeah, by the way, our bathroom is disastrous right now and it's been that way for almost two months now.
When we moved into this house back in September, the bathroom floor was entirely carpet.
Yep. Carpet.
Who in the world thinks to put carpet in a bathroom?
The irony in all this bathroom carpet mess? The rest of our house is completely hardwood. Oh, and more irony? The carpet was actually pretty luxurious. But in the bathroom? It wasn't flying with me.
We had put the bathroom carpet debacle on the top of the remodel priority list, but needless to say, life happened.
And I often laid awake at night thinking about what was secretly lurking in the carpet and about how we were walking on germy bathroom carpet and spreading it all over the house and how then after walking all over the bathroom carpet we'd then get into our beds and spread the potty germs to our beds and how the germs would then creap up the sheets as we slept.
And then the incident happened. Let's just say some yucky stuff happened with Kaydn Rye and some lactose intolerance and that the carpet had seen its last days in the bathroom.
So, that night, at probably 9 at night, I started ripping up the carpet only to find about five layers of weirdo linoleum and at the very bottom, some rotted hardwood.
So before our wonderful natural slate tile could be laid we had some work to do, and the Thursday before last I spent the entire day in town stocking up on absolutely everything I could at the Super Wal-Mart, and this is what I came home to. Hubby had been working diligently on tearing apart my entire bathroom while I was gone, and while my bathroom right now is half-tiled, half cement board, I no longer dream about the horrors of bathroom germs in my bed at night.
Now, once the floor is done I can work on ridding my home of the absolutely horrific wallpaper on the bathroom walls, and maybe after that I'll hit up the bathtub with a good glazing. The '70s are long gone baby.

Our bathroom is in nearly the same condition as yours right now and wouldn't you know we had to rip up carpeting too.
I don't know what people are thinking, unless they have an all female household. I remember my husband yelling expletives out as he ripped that carpet up and discovered a world of trapped odors underneath.
Good luck with your remodel!
Love your site design, by the way!
Ewwwwwwwww, this looks like a lot of work to me. Yep, carpet in a bathroom...it's a no go in my opinion too.
My Wordful is all about three ships that went sailing across the seas to discover America. And they're all here in our city. [replicas that is]
Come on over for a blog visit, I'd love to have your company today.
I don't like carpet hardly anywhere, but "back in the day" everyone used to put carpet in the bathroom!
I don't really like carpet that much either. DEFINITELY not in my bathroom. I start most of my projects late at night too. Who knows why? I guess so I can give myself a little more stress.
I've never gotten the carpet in the bathroom thing either. Yuck.
I had an avacado green tub in my last house too. And avacado wall paper, bathroom sink, washer, dryer, stove, fridge, counter tops ect. ect. ect...
Yep we are one of the many who bought a house with carpet in the bathrooms AND with many ugly linoleum layers underneath...fun times!! The ONLY positive to carpeting in the bathroom is it is DEFINITELY warmer than tiler or hardwoods. Our entire house with the exception of the bedroom is hardwoods and I must say our bedrooms are NOTICEABLY warmer the the ENTIRE rest of the house BUT I would NEVER give up the hardwoods!! Good luck with the remodel!
Wow - I guess carpet in the bathroom is pretty popular! You knew? I should start a support group.
@blueviolet - at first I read "trapped doors" instead of "trapped odors" I was thinking, trap doors would be cool, but trapped odors, not so much.
We bought our home 6 years ago and I was completely floored that someone had put carpet in the master bathroom area. I always bathe the kids in our bathtub b/c it's the biggest one in our house and I can squeeze all 4 kids in there at one time. The carpet is usually sopping wet after the bath so I really fear what is lurking underneath that carpet. You're already so ahead of me with having yours removed already!!
I grew up with carpet in the bathroom and evry house I've been in has had it since. EXCEPT for this one...the carpet guy told me, not to, so we put tile down instead, boy am I glad....things lurking is right. Good luck with your project
I'm with you Kate - bring on the words! You are my remodeling hero - plain and simple.
And bathroom carpet??? I had no idea such a thing existed.
Oh my gosh! When I was little we had bright blue carpet in our bathroom! That brings back memories. Hey are you able to get to Farrah's homepage? I cant. :(
I'm so glad you're getting your bathroom taken care of and the way you want it! Congrats!!
It sounds like your house is really coming together!
Just think how nice the end result will be!!!!! I, myself really want to call rebath!!!!!! We have the 70's tub!
We have slate in our bathrooms & I LOVE it! I wish we would have put it more places.
You will have to look me up when you get to Norway... actually 1/2 of the americans I know over here are from N. Dakota. You would fit in well! Thanks for popping by.
I don't get carpet in the bathroom either. At all. We are living in a rental now. With carpet in the bathroom. Orange carpet. That smells like urine some days. It's gross. :)
I'm so glad ou decided to play along!
I remember my husband and I rented this basement apartment and we had carpet in the kitchen. Now that was a disaster! At least we were only there for a year, otherwise I would have pulled it out myself as well. That is too funny!
So about the Mama Snow, there actually isn't much of a story to it except it is my last name. So disappointing I know. I juts thought it was cute and so there you go. The truth of the matter is I HATE snow and I hate cold. I realize I am living in the wrong place. But like I said earlier, we tried to get away(looking in all the warm states) and failed. So here I am, Mama Snow who Hate's the white stuff!
Growing up, we had carpet in our kitchen. Why? I don't know -it was there when we moved in......and then my parents replaced it with, more carpet.
You have my sympathy! We went through this a couple of years ago and completely gutted the bathroom (including the ceiling!), rebuilt and tiled it from floor to ceiling. Spent a month showering in a gazebo on the patio (rigged a shower up through the kitchen window!)Ours had a carpet as well - yeugh! And a brown suite with pink walls!! But all the dust, hassle, inconvenience and sheer madness that went on for 3 months was worth it in the end. We have a gorgeous white & black bathroom with a luxurious D shaped shower enclosure and a curved bath and a super Italian vanity unit and gorgeous Spanish tiles on the floor and we are in heaven - so I am sure yours will be worth all the aggro too. Just think of the finished product when you feel it's all getting too much :-)
Sorry to see your bathroom is under construction. My condo too had carpet in the bathroom. I once had a college apartment with SHAG carpet in the kitchen. NICE! Found you through SITS. I hope it warms up soon in ND!
Bonjour Kate! ~ :)
I too am in the midst of all things "floor!!" LOL :)
So, I send you all the best design wishes (that I secretly need myself) LOL ~ :)
Carpet + bathroom + kids = GROSS!!!
Good luck with the bathroom reno! Came over from SITS, your blog is hilarious!
You know who puts carpet in a bathroom? MEN contractors.
No one who's ever bathed a child would put carped in there. That room (in everyone's house) should be all tile with a drain on the floor.
We did a bathroom re-do when I had a 1 month old..not fun! Love your site..
Happy SITS day. I HATE carpet in bathrooms, especially when you have little boys that can't AIM!!!
I remember my parents had carpet in the bathroom at their house, and it always smelled like mildew because water would leak from the shower. So glad we have tile in our house.
Good luck with your re-model. Visiting you from SITS btw :)
what a beautiful blog you have! i enjoyed my visit! looks like you've been busy around your house!
~~~a fellow SITSta!
crazy how people do things to a house that don't make any sense, then leave the new owners to the mess.
good luck!!
Stopping by from SITS - I never understood the whole carpet in the bathroom thing. My grandparents have it in their bathroom too and every time I go there I just think... ewww.
Stopping by from SITS. Good luck with the bathroom.
Wow! That's some serious work! Good luck with the flooring and the rest of the bathroom remodel. Stopping by from SITS! Congrats on your feature!
Congrats on being featured blogger!
Here from SITS, congratulations on feature blogger.
Our bathroom was in pretty bad shape too. It took my hubby about 3 yrs. before he would do anything about it. We had a makeshift shower in the back room (where everyone comes into our house) and luckily we finished a 1/2 bath before ripping out the full. Thank goodness it is done. Good luck with the project.
I hate, abhor, desperately dislike carpet in the bathroom. It gives me the heebie-geebies just thinking about it. Here's hoping your bathroom is back to normal soon. :)
Stopping in to say hi and good luck with your project!!
Man! I don't get the carpet in the bathroom thing at all. I have a hard time with area rugs, especially around the toilet...especially with young boys...you get the idea. I imagine North Dakota looks a lot like AZ only a heckuva lot colder!
Happy "feature" day on SITS!!
I really don't know how people can think carpet in a bathroom is a good idea!
I bet it will look GREAT when you all are done!
Stopping by from SITS to say hi! Congrats on being featured and good luck on your bathroom...
Congratulations on being featured at SITS today!
Last summer we pulled up our flooring and had to redo the rotten wood underneath. I am still waiting for hubby to lay the tile. Hopefully he'll get it done soon! Good luck in getting yours finished!
Congrats on being the centerfold..oops, I mean feature blog.
[anyone want to be a Mifan Mommy?...come see me at my blog...]
Congrats on being featured w/ SITS! Come check out my blog! embraceyourstyle.blogspot.com!
Stopping by from SITS. Congrats on being the featured blog!!
Good luck with the remodel. We just finished ours this summer. It was definitely worth all the headaches.
Congrats on being featured! Just stopping by from SITS!
Stopped over from SITS, congrats on your big day!
We had carpet in our bathroom when I was a kid. Never thought anything of it until I brought my children back to my childhood home, and one of the peed on the floor.
All of a sudden, it dawned on me.
Duh.
;)
I'll be back!!!
Coming from SITS.
I have been through many a renovation and they can be tough! One of our first was actually a bathroom with about the same color tub as yours. LOL
Hi! I remember that avocado green color from when I was growing up. Poor thing!!! How awful. I hope your remodel goes well.
Looks like someone was Kung-Fu-Figh-Ting!
Good luck in there. Be sure to show the make-over, too!
We bought a new home (a while back) that had a carpeted bathroom in a very pale gray. Got rid of it eventually and put in tile. Much more practical. You'll be glad you did the work (when you're done). Love your blog...so pretty. Blessings
Happy SITS day! We just got our bathroom working again after a 6 week long tile repair job in our shower that was a mess. Carpet is not allowed because of health codes in bathrooms anymore (my husband is a homebuilder) so you were right to have bad vibes about it. The icky potty germs on the sheets comment made me snarf my drink! Tee-hee.
Add me to the list of anti bathroom carpet folks. If you want something warmer than tile, throw down a bathmat that you can pop in the washer on a regular basis. Take heart, some day soon your bathroom will be what you want it to be...or close. We gutted our bathroom - it had a window in it that looked out on the inside of our carport, a bathtub that was built for people who must have only been four feet tall and the curtains were towels! Yuck. It's all a distant memory now, thank goodness.
I love your layout and your style.
Oops forgot to mention I came over from SITS.
Yep, carpet in the bathroom is just not my thing! Just popping over from SITS. Great blog!
Hey, here from SITS! Your blog is too cute!
I have to have bath mats/rugs but carpet? No way! Congrats on your SITS day!
Good Luck with your remodel! LOOKS like a LOAD of fun! :)
Came over from SITS to say HI and congrats on being a featured Blogger!
Sara
Congratulations on your SITS featured blog!
Hey...coming over to visit from SITS! Your blog is beautiful! I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your posts!
Congrats on being FB at SITS!
New to Sits and your blog. For some reason the IE demons are on hiatus tonight! Good for me:)
Sorry about the bathroom. Some people are just crazy. Seriously carpet in the bathroom? In what dimension is that ok?
You probably shouldn't stop by my blog on a Wednesday:)
Nevertheless, happy SITS Day!
I have a bathroom I'd like to blow up and start from scratch! It's still stuck in the 60's. Good luck with yours...keep us posted on it.
Congrats on your day!
Hi,I just found you thru sits.I would like to know more about the "fixing of the trouble"I have so many problems with compose.Is this what you are talking about?...Ann
Hi from a sits! sister. Remodels are a pain, but the end result is usually worth it. Can't wait to see the end result!
Yikes! Can't wait for the end result pics!
Hello from SITS. Girl, let me just tell you that when we moved into this house we also had carpet in the bathrooms.........I ripped it up and THANK the Lord there was nice (old) tile underneath, it looks much better and I know it's much cleaner. Unfortunately, there is STILL carpet in our kitchen and laundry and den and living room. EEEEeeeek, I know how you feel......we're putting down wood or ceramic tile in the rooms mentioned above. Well, hopefully before this summer. I just can't wait. I also cannot wait to see how it all turns out for you.
Feel free to come by and see some of my old house projects, in older posts.
Have a great day!
P.S. we live in a small rural area as well
I'm visiting from SITS-and I so agree-carpet in the bathroom is STUPID!! Congrats on getting something MORE realistic:)
Visiting from SITS. Great blog! My husband remodels houses and I can't get over how many older homes have carpet in the bathrooms. How could anyone, at any time, think that was a good idea. Glad you are getting rid of it!
I already left you a comment, but after reading through your blog, I felt compelled to say "hello" one more time. See, we're neighbors, statewise, anyway. :) I live south of you. Same climate too. We used to live in ND and I have to say, I kind of miss it. :)
This picture should motivate me to finish my bathroom... :)
Carolyn here from SITS!
I hope you fix your bathroom soon!
OMG did I HATE having carpet in one of our previous homes. It even had carpet going up the sides of the garden tub! WTH were they THINKING?!
Good luck with the remodel and can't wait to see the finished look! :-)
