So anyway, in honor of ridding both the sunroom and the living room of both wallpaper and funky paint color, we had a rockin house-warming party. I had never been to a housewarming party before, so I didn't know that people actually brought presents to these things. Good thing my first house-warming party was my own so I didn't show up to someone else's without a gift.
We have moved more than five times since we got married and I can't believe we've never had a house warming party before. If I would have known that we could get presents I definitely would have jumped on the housewarming party bandwagon years ago. We even got this candle that runs on batteries. I couldn't figure out what in the world was wrong with it when I put the batteries in because the light kept flickering. I thought maybe it had a short in it until I realized, oh yeah, it's supposed to flicker, you know, like a candle. Seriously, how dense is that?
So anyway, here's a look at the living room that took me three coats of paint on top of a primer coat. The ceiling had to all be done with a brush because of all the bumpiness in the texture. And don't mind the pink dining room in the background, I haven't exactly figured out how I'm going to tackle that room yet.

Here's the really interesting one. There are orbs in this photo. Kinda crazy.

It looks GREAT! Good for you. I have a bright yellow and bright orange stuck in the 70's kitchen with fruit wallpaper. It was my grandparents' house. We haven't had the money to do anything with it.. its horrible looking! I have never had a housewarming party... I knew there were gifts involved.. but I am not the hostessy type. The orbs in the pics are very cool. Do you have ghosts that you know of?
The battery powered candles are great... but the batteries die pretty quickly... mine are for show and collecting dust.
This looks so cute! There is nothing like the feeling of getting your space exactly the way you want it. The orbs are nice and spooky, too!
The baby is due Feb. 15... I'm thrilled and terrified, and can for sure use a bloggy friend who has been there already :)
Looks really really cozy. I love you couch and fatty chair.
Wow Kate - your house looks all cozy and ready for all kinds of warm and fuzzy parties where people want to bring you gifts. Love the wooden door molding - and that fireplace!
Love it!
Your room looks great. Love the chair and lounge. Paint is a miracle worker I think (and some taste). I hope your housewarming goes great!! I so love fireplaces -ooohhh!!
I love the colors! The ceiling makes the space look even more warm and inviting!
